West Ranch High School Academic Integrity Policy
West Ranch High School enforces the William S. Hart Union High School District’s Academic Integrity Policy. The Board values honesty and expects students to achieve success through their own efforts, without cheating, lying, or plagiarizing.
Examples of Academic Dishonesty:
- Plagiarism: Using others' words or ideas without proper citation.
- Submitting Others' Work: Presenting another person’s work (e.g., parents, friends, purchased papers, online content) as your own.
- Copying Assignments: Sharing or exchanging work with other students.
- Unauthorized Assistance: Using notes, devices, or any aid on assignments/tests without permission.
- Providing Answers: Sharing answers or test information with others.
- Tampering with Records: Altering grades, records, or unauthorized access to test keys.
- Improper Use of Resources: Using solution manuals, AI tools (like ChatGPT), or unauthorized translation tools.
Consequences of Violations:
- Parent Notification: Parents/guardians will be informed, and a report will be filed.
- Zero on Assignment/Test: The student will receive a failing grade on the affected work without the option for make-up work.
- Possible Removal from Honor Societies: Violators may be removed from the National Honor Society (NHS) or California Scholarship Federation (CSF).
Additional Notes:
- AI and Online Tools: Do not use AI or online tools to produce work; unattributed use will be considered plagiarism.
- Test Security: Accessing or sharing test questions before or after assessments is prohibited and will be considered a violation of the policy.
Always submit work that is your own and uphold the integrity of your education. |
